How to play Brick Breaker
Move the paddle with the mouse, your finger or the left and right keys, then click, tap or press Space to launch the ball. Bounce it into the wall of coloured bricks above. Some bricks need up to four hits and show cracks as they weaken. Clear every brick to reach the next level.
You have three lives and lose one when the last ball drops past your paddle. Bricks are worth more on later levels, each cleared level adds a bonus, and breaking several bricks before the ball returns to the paddle builds a combo. The layout changes from level to level and the ball gets faster each time.
Tips
- βΈThe ball's angle depends on where it hits the paddle: the centre sends it almost straight up, the edges send it off sharply.
- βΈBreak through to the space above the bricks. A ball trapped up there keeps hitting bricks and builds a big combo.
- βΈCapsules marked W, M and L give you a wider paddle for 12 seconds, extra balls, or lasers for 10 seconds that fire with a click or Space.
- βΈLosing a life cancels all active power-ups, so play safe while you have them.
Brick Breaker FAQ
- How many lives do you get in Brick Breaker?
- Three. You only lose one when the last ball falls off the bottom, so during multi-ball you can drop a few balls safely.
- Why won't some bricks break?
- Tougher bricks need up to four hits. They fade and crack as they take damage and are worth more points when they finally break.
- Can I play with only the keyboard?
- Yes. The left and right arrow keys (or A and D) move the paddle, and Space launches the ball and fires lasers.
