How to play 8-Ball Pool
Pick vs AI, or Two players to take turns with a friend on one screen. To shoot, press near the cue ball and drag back, away from your target; the longer the drag, the harder the shot. Release to strike. A dashed guide shows where the cue ball will make contact and which way the object ball will go.
After the break, the first player to pot a ball claims solids or stripes. Pot one of yours and you shoot again. Potting the cue ball, hitting nothing, or hitting the wrong ball first is a foul, and your opponent gets ball in hand anywhere on the table. Clear your group, then sink the 8-ball to win; pot it early or on a foul and you lose.
Tips
- βΈThe yellow line on the guide shows where the object ball will travel; line it up with the pocket before you think about power.
- βΈTap an arrow key while you hold the drag to nudge the angle by a hair, the easiest way to play thin cuts.
- βΈYou rarely need full power: a slow ball that reaches the edge of a pocket drops in.
- βΈWith ball in hand, set the cue ball up for an easy pot, away from the cushions.
8-Ball Pool FAQ
- Can two people play on the same device?
- Yes. Choose Two players and pass the mouse or device between turns. There's no online mode for pool.
- How good is the AI?
- It tests dozens of possible shots with the table's own physics before picking one, so it pots well, but it can still miss. There's one difficulty level.
- What happens if the 8-ball goes in on the break?
- It's put back on its spot and play carries on. Only potting it later, before your group is cleared or on a foul, loses the game.
